Crisis management and first aid Prepare for the unexpected

A workplace can be paralysed by a serious incident. By having procedures and important knowledge in place, you can prepare for urgent, unforeseen events. This reduces the risk of consequences such as long-term mental ill health and major production disruptions. And it can save lives.

Feelgood helps you to be well prepared and supports you in the right way when something happens.

Every day, a number of acute illnesses and accidents occur in our workplaces, where rapid intervention can be crucial to survival and rehabilitation. You can save lives, for example, by ensuring that your employees have good first aid skills.

Crises can take many forms and occur at work or outside of work, but still affect your employees and your workplace. You can give your managers the best possible conditions to deal with a crisis situation through training, a well-established crisis plan and access to crisis support around the clock.

Preventive work is important. A well-implemented crisis plan, with the development of a crisis organisation and action plan, as well as training in crisis management, creates security for everyone in the organisation. In certain industries, it is known in advance that employees are at risk of emotional stress, for example through exposure to threats and violence or having to make difficult decisions. Pre-briefing can then be offered to prepare employees for the stress. By providing first aid training in your workplace, you enable life-saving interventions and also comply with your obligations as an employer under the Swedish Work Environment Authority.

It is important that employees are aware of the risks that exist in the workplace and how these can best be managed to prevent accidents from happening. The emergency plan needs to be well established among employees and available so that everyone knows what to do in the event of an accident. It is also very important that life-saving treatment and aids such as defibrillators are available. Knowledge of CPR and first aid can be the difference between life and death if an accident involving personal injury occurs. In addition to accidents related to incidents, the ambulance service in Sweden reports 5,000 cases of sudden cardiac arrest outside hospitals every year.

At Feelgood, we can help you to be well prepared through risk assessment, crisis planning, implementation, training and crisis support.

With Feelgood's crisis service, you have access to crisis specialists who can be reached around the clock, all year round, via a special telephone number that is always staffed. Together with designated managers at your company, who have the right to call on the crisis support service, the crisis specialists assess what measures need to be taken.

Feelgood guarantees crisis support on site after the call and assessment. Crisis specialists then carry out the measures deemed necessary for individuals, groups and managers.

Yes, it does. The Swedish Work Environment Authority's AFS 2023:2 states the following about first aid and crisis support:

The employer shall ensure that each workplace has the necessary preparedness and procedures for first aid and crisis support, taking into account the nature, scope and specific risks of the business. The employer shall continuously monitor that the procedures are working. When planning first aid and crisis support procedures, the local community organisations that may be needed in first aid and crisis support work shall be contacted. Examples of local organisations that may need to be contacted are emergency medical services, rescue services and social services.

The employer shall ensure that employees are aware of how first aid and crisis support are organised at the workplace. Employees shall be kept well informed of the procedures that apply.

The employer shall ensure that there are sufficient numbers of people available to provide first aid at the workplace, taking into account the nature, scope and specific risks of the business. These persons' first aid knowledge and skills must be kept up to date.

The fundamental principle is, of course, to prevent ill health and accidents. It is the employer's responsibility to identify, assess and address risks. However, despite these measures, accidents or other serious incidents cannot always be avoided. It is therefore important to be prepared to take immediate action. You need knowledge and skills in life-saving measures such as ensuring clear airways, stopping serious bleeding, preventing circulatory failure and performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Training and regular practical exercises are of great importance.

It is also important to be prepared to provide psychological and social care when employees are affected by acute crises, accidents or other serious events. This can reduce personal suffering and prevent sick leave and loss of production.

We help you to live up to this.
